Tonight on SmackDown Live, a fatal five-way will take place to determine the number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Plus, it is rumored that The New Day will make their debut on the blue brand. SmackDown Live will air tonight at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the USA Network. Check back in at 8 for match results and spoilers, and read on for a preview of the night’s events.
On this evening’s episode of SmackDown Live, Tamina, Natalya, Becky Lynch, Carmella and Charlotte will compete in a fatal five-way. The winner of this match will go on to face SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi. This comes after several weeks of the “welcoming committee,” a group consisting of Tamina, Natalya and Carmella, going after Naomi, Becky Lynch and Charlotte. So will someone from the welcoming committee be able to secure the title of number one contender and go on to take the championship from Naomi?
Plus, it’s been almost two months since the WWE superstar shake up, in which Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E were traded from Raw to SmackDown Live. Yet The New Day still has not been seen on the blue brand, largely because Kofi Kingston suffered a legitimate injury. But rumor has it The New Day will soon be debuting on SmackDown, and with the Usos just having wrapped up a storyline with Breezango, now is the perfect time for them to make an appearance.

There are now fewer than three weeks to go until Money in the Bank, and so far, only three matches have been announced. We know that Jinder Mahal will face Randy Orton at the pay-per-view, and Naomi will face the number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. In addition, there will be a ladder match with the competitors being Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, and Shinsuke Nakamura. But the pay-per-view still needs to be filled out, and it has been rumored that there will be a Money in the Bank women’s ladder match. Tonight on SmackDown, we’ll likely receive some further announcements about the Money in the Bank card.
