With amazing visuals and multiple awards (including 2016 Mobile Game of The Year by the Global Mobile Awards) Vainglory has momentum of a runaway freight train and a major player base – with several players on team ‘Solomid’ making the game their full-time job and attending tournaments around the world.
The MOBA genre has also grown in popularity in recent years, as games like League of Legends, Defense of The Ancients, and Heroes of The Storm have taken over the world of e-sports and free-to-play games.
The International DOTA 2 Tournament in August had a massive prize pool of 24.8 Million dollars, with 10 million of that going to the first place team, ‘Team Liquid’.
As mobile gaming legitimizes itself, the accessibility of the platform could mean a shift in the dynamics of E-sports from console and PC to phones and tablets as they’re cheaper, more accessible, and prevalent.
