In a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday, President Donald Trump defended his son’s decision to meet with a lawyer in Russia who said he had high-level information about Hillary Clinton.
The president today said that nothing came of Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting in Russia and that he was not in the wrong to take the meeting.
“I think it’s a meeting that most people in politics probably would have taken,” Trump said.
Trump also said that it’s not uncommon to be approached with dirt on an opponent during the election, saying that “politics is not the nicest business in the world” and that “it’s called opposition research.”
President Trump also said that the lawyer that his son met with was “not a government lawyer.”
