A 17-year-old Formula 4 driver had both of his legs amputated after this horrific crash in England. The BBC reports that Billy Monger hit the back of a fellow racer during a crash in Donnington, Leicestershire. Monger was airlifted from the scene after he was cut out of his car.

A Just Giving page has been set up for Monger and at time of writing it has raised over $350,000. The page was set up to “Help Billy Monger beat life changing injuries, after being involved in one of the most horrific crashes Motorsport has seen.” The page also says:
Having always been a fighter Billy has already overcome big hurdles in his career – struggling for budget Billy has fought his way into top flight Motorsport, however, we now need your kindness and support to help give Billy and his family the best chance to fight these injuries that will affect Billy’s life so massively.
Monger had been competing in the Formula 4 British Championship, which replaced the British Formula Ford Championship in 2015. That competition is where Formula 1 legends Jensen Button and Ayrton Senna got their starts.
