A pivotal week for USMNT starts Thursday in Colorado.

After a poor start to the final round of World Cup qualifying, USA responded with a dominant six-goal victory over Honduras and a draw against Panama. Four points in four games isn’t terrible at this point in the competition, but the Americans would have a playoff against an Asian teamto reach the World Cup if the competition ended today.

By Sunday, the narrative could change completely. USA host Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday night, a team that hasn’t won on U.S. soil since their opponents rested their starters for a game in 2008. T&T sit at the bottom of CONCACAF, but only two points separate them from third-place Panama.

Looming beyond this game is a meeting with Mexico on Sunday. USA manager Bruce Arena is prepping his team for the altitude at Estadio Azteca, where Mexico is unbeaten (3-1-0) in World Cup qualifying.

Trinidad and Tobago also fired their coach after a poor start, and now former player Dennis Lawrence has stepped in as interim manager. The roster is sprinkled with MLS talent, including Atlanta United target man Kenwyne Jones.

Bruce Arena is making adjustments to his lineups, including using Fabian Johnson in the midfield. It’ll be interesting to see how Johnson develops with rising star Christian Pulisic, who already has five goals in his young international career.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern, and lineups will be posted one hour before kickoff.
