After 13 long years, fans of Samurai Jack are finally able to see the conclusion to their show. Jack is facing Aku in a finale that is destined to be epic. Fans have truly enjoyed being able to watch the show again, but many feel a little bittersweet about the end. Is this the permanent end to the show? Or is there any chance that the show might return for a Season 6 renewal?
Here’s what we know so far. After reading this article, take our poll at the end and let us know if you’d like a Season 6.
Unfortunately, at this time it looks like there’s little chance that we’ll be seeing a Season 6 of Samurai Jack. The show has really great ratings, so there certainly would be room for a Season 6. And Genndy Tartakovsky has seemingly expressed interest (although not in doing so personally.) But at this time, there’s no word from Adult Swim or Tartakovsky that a new season is even being considered.
Tartakovsky has previously said that he would be open to a series about what Jack was up to during the 50 years before Season 5 started. Although that wouldn’t be a series continuation, it could be a spinoff that would be pretty fascinating to watch. However, Tartakovsky also said that this would be for someone else to do, not him.
He told Entertainment Weekly, before the new season began, that doing the show just burns him out. “I was burnt out to a crisp, and the whole crew was. It’s a very grueling show,” he said.
Here’s what he told Entertainment Weekly about the show’s end:
This is it. This is the definitive end, and it’s a great end. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ve storyboarded it, and I think it’s super satisfying, and it should close the door for me for Samurai Jack. … Now, look, there’s 50 years between season 4 and season 5, and if somebody wanted to jump in and do some stories in between, but for me this is the end.”
So, there’s really no hope right now about seeing a Season 6, unless someone else jumps in and takes over. What do you think? Would you like to see a new season? Let us know in the poll below.
