The trailer for the ports of Pokemon Gold and Silver for the Nintendo 3DS has a fun reference pointing to Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

As Twitter user @TAHK0 points out, the words “Ultra Sun Moon” are written across the banner around the top of the room during the “uncover the mysteries of the Johto Region” part of the trailer below (around the 0:26 mark).

The gameplay featured in the video has nods to classic moments from Gold and Silver, such as catching the red Gyarados and battling against Red. The trailer also uses 3D versions of locations from the game as a sort of backdrop.

Pokemon Gold and Silver were released on November 21, 1999 in Japan and October 15, 2000 in America for the Game Boy Color. The games added new features to the series that would carry on in future installments including new Pokemon, new Pokemon types, new improvements for Pokemon stats, breeding, shiny Pokemon, Pokerus, and more.

Remakes of the games for the Nintendo DS, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, were released on September 12, 2009 in Japan and March 14, 2010 in America. It added even more features to the game including improved graphics and the Pokewalker, a device that allowed you to carry a Pokemon on a pedometer to raise it and even find new Pokemon.

3DS ports of Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow were released on the 3DS Virtual Console on February 27, 2016 – exactly 20 years after the release of Pokemon Red and Blue on the Game Boy. The ports allowed you to trade Pokemon wirelessly and even store Pokemon in Pokemon Bank, a service allowing you to store Pokemon in a server so you can transfer it to other games. The same features will be coming to the 3DS ports of Gold and Silver.

The ports will be available on the Nintendo eShop on September 22, 2017. A port for Pokemon Crystal, part of the generation of Gold and Silver similar to Pokemon Yellow, hasn’t been announced.
