A new Pokemon Go update has been released. What’s new in this latest version of the game?
This new update, version 0.63.4 for Android and version 1.33.4 for iOS, is relatively minor. In fact, it was insignificant enough that Niantic did not even put up a news post about it on their website, as they typically do for updates of some consequence. Instead, they simply said on Twitter that the update was “to implement bug fixes.”
However, thanks to the fans over at The Silph Road who have analyzed the update, we now have a bit more information about what’s contained within. Niantic has evidently implemented a new system in this update for handling Pokemon Trainer Club login errors. A lot of players had been having trouble playing the game due to these login issues, especially during the Adventure Week event, and fixing this seems to have been the main point of this update.
The Silph Road also notes that the APK for this update now features variables for each Android version, which may have been implemented in order to crack down on spoofers.
Other than that, not much has really been changed in the new Pokemon Go update. The update does not appear to fix issues players have been having with the sightings tab going blank, and it certainly does not add on any new features to the game.
However, some major updates are expected to be coming to Pokemon Go over the next few months, with Niantic saying earlier this year that a gym rework was on its way. Niantic has also hinted that legendary Pokemon might be coming to the game this summer. At the 21st Annual Webby Awards, Archit Bhargava, Niantic’s global product marketing lead, said, “This summer will be legendary.”
And in an interview with Wired back in March, when asked about the legendary Pokemon possibly making an appearance soon, Hanke said, “I can safely say we’ll see more of it this year.”
