Loryn Barclay, a former substitute teacher in Missouri, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage boy in two different counties.
Barclay, 24, was accused of having sex with the teenage boy while she was teaching in the Monett School District in Missouri.
Although Barclay deleted most of her social media accounts – namely on Facebook and Instagram – she did not delete accounts she had on Pinterest and Twitter. Her Twitter page contains numerous photos of Barclay out with friends, with horses (which she was heavily involved in riding), and on trips to London.
Barclay is the latest in a series of teachers who have been accused of having sex with teenage boys across the country. The female teachers in many different states tend to share in common a prolific social media presence.
In the case of Barclay, authorities accuse her of admitting to the contact with the boy, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile.
Fox News reported that an affidavit in the case alleges that “Barclay said she performed oral sex on the boy in a car at a park located in Lawrence County, Mo. She also admitted she had intercourse with the teen at the boy’s home in neighboring Barry County.”
Barclay has worked with horses as a riding instructor. She also appears to have had a boyfriend based on a family obituary naming him and his photos of the couple on his Facebook page.
Barclay, who has been charged with crimes for the alleged relationship, was arrested after a school resource officer received a tip. The Monett Times reported that three instances of sexual contact allegedly occurred in November and in December of 2016.
The newspaper reported that the boy also allegedly admitted to the contact and alleged that “the interactions allegedly occurred at Monett North Park in Lawrence County and at the student’s family’s home in Monett in Barry County.”
