A police report from the Jupiter Police Department was released Tuesday and it said that an officer noticed the Mercedes stopped on the roadway with its right blinker flashing at 2:03 a.m. When the officer approached the vehicle, Woods was noted as being asleep, hunched over the steering wheel. The officer had to wake Woods up, and noted that he had “extremely slow and slurred speech.”

Woods allegedly told the officer that he was coming from Los Angeles from golfing and said that he didn’t know where he was. He changed the story of where he was going multiple times, and the officer didn’t notice any odor of alcohol.

The golfer failed field sobriety tests, including reciting the alphabet back to the officer. When the officer asked if Woods knew what was asked of him, he allegedly said “Yes, recite entire National Anthem backwards.”

Woods was taken into custody and to a testing facility, where he arrived at 4:02 a.m. He was observed for 20 minutes and was noted as cooperative, but was “extremely sleepy” and had trouble keeping his eyes open.

Breath test results, according to the affidavit, show that the golfer didn’t register anything during the alcohol test but had been prescribed to multiple medications from past medical issues.

The arrest documents show that Woods was prescribed four medications for his past surgeries. Those include Vicodin, Solarex, Torix and Vioxx (which he said he hasn’t taken this year).

Woods is scheduled to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. on July 5.

Hours after the arrest, Woods issued a statement, saying he experienced a negative side-effect of his prescribed medication.

“I would like to apologize with all my heart to my family, friends and the fans,” Woods said in his statement. “I expect more from myself too.”

Woods was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The arrest happened just south of his The Woods restaurant.
