It has been a tumultuous week in Dallas, and a preseason game is the least of the Cowboys worries. The show must go on, and Heavy will have live updates from the game as soon as the Rams-Cowboys kickoff.
The Cowboys will play their first game since learning nearly 24 hours ago running back Ezekiel Elliott will be suspended for six games. All eyes will be on the Cowboys backfield as fans want to know how touches will be distributed among Alfred Morris, Darren McFadden and the rest of the Cowboys running backs.
Elliot along with Dak Prescott are among the players expected to sit out tonight’s contest.
The Rams have also been in the news, but for different reasons. Sammy Watkins is headed to Los Angeles after the Rams completed a trade with the Bills on Friday. Given Watkins played in a Bills preseason game earlier this week, it is unlikely Watkins will make his Rams debut tonight.
There is optimism in L.A. under new head coach Sean McVay. After a rocky rookie season, Jared Goff hopes to be much improved under McVay’s system. Todd Gurley is also hoping for a bounce back season after a disappointing 2016. The Rams added a number of offensive weapons including rookie receivers Cooper Kupp and Josh Reynolds, who will both look to make an immediate impact on a unit that struggled mightily last season.
Keep it here for highlights, stats and an instant breakdown of the Cowboys-Rams preseason matchup.
