The 2017 Congressional Baseball Game will go on as scheduled tonight and will air on television in its entirety, just a day after House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot during practice at an Alexandria, Virginia ball park. The game will air on C-SPAN, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET at Nationals Park in Washington D.C.

During a press conference on Wednesday, just hours after the shooting, Republican Rep. Joe Barton of Texas and Democratic Rep. Mike Doyle of Pennsylvania, who are managing the two teams, announced that C-SPAN will air the game.

“It shouldn’t take an incident like this to bring us together,” Doyle noted. “At times of tragedy, Americans do that. Joe and I have been reflecting a lot lately on how we can still maintain our principles and our legislative agendas, but we could do it in a more civil way.”

The game will still go on despite the shooting of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise during practice on Wednesday. The suspect, James T. Hodgkinson, died from his injuries at the hospital. U.S. Capitol officers David Bailey and Crystal Griner, Tyson Foods lobbyist Matt Mika and Congressional staffer Zack Barth were also injured. Scalise and Mika remain in critical condition.

Tickets for the event cost just $10, with reserved seating tickets costing $15. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and first pitch is at 7:05 p.m. ET. The event typically raises about $600,000 for The Washington Literacy Center, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation. If you can’t attend but would still like to donate, you can click here to go to the game’s official Facebook page to donate. Proceeds will also go to the Capitol Police Memorial Fund.

The game was first played in 1909 and has been an annual event since 1962. Members of both the House and Senate participate each year. President Donald Trump will not be attending this year’s game.
