Hulu’s quirky original comedy series, Casual, is back for its third season, and multiple reviews are already calling it a must-watch. Hulu will be making the first three episodes of the season available immediately starting May 23, and according to EW, things may be looking up for the trio of Valerie, Alex, and Laura, on the third installment of the show.
Casual picks up with the aftermath of Charles’ death, and Valerie’s decision to uproot her life and her daughter’s life out of Alex’s house. Fans will see a slew of familiar faces, including Eliza Couple, Zak Orth, and Kyle Bornheimer. Judy Greer will also make an appearance, as will Gossip Girl hunk, Chase Crawford.

Michaela Watkins as Valerie
Actress Michaela Watkins, 45, was a member of SNL from 2008 to 2009. She starred role in the short-lived ABC sitcom, Trophy Wife, for one season, and has had recurring roles on series like Enlightened and Transparent. Watkins studied acting at Boston University, and spent a few years doing regional theater work before moving to Los Angeles. In LA, she became a member of The Groundlings, where she was discovered by SNL. Watkins has held recurring roles in films like Enough Said, In a World…, Afternoon Delight, The Back-Up Plan, and Wanderlust.
Tommy Dewey as Alex
Actor Tommy Dewey was born in Alabama and graduated from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. He made his TV debut in Amanda Bynes’ What I Like About You. Dewey was a big hit on The Mindy Project, where he played one of Mindy’s love interests. He was cast in Casual in 2015.
Tara Lynne Barr as Laura
Tara Lynne Barr had her breakout role in the 2011 film God Bless America, which earned her a Young Artist Award Nomination for Best Leading Young Actress in a Feature Film. The actress has been acting since she was young, and booked her first role in the comedy short Road Kill in 2005. Her TV credits include Joan of Arcadia, Crossing Jordan, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and The Bold & The Beautiful.
Nyasha Hatendi as Leon
Nyasha Hatendi was born in DC and works as an actor and producer. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA), and in 2008, he was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for The Brothers Size. Hatendi attended Eton College in Eton, Berhsire, the same year as Eddie Redmayne and Prince William.
Frances Conroy as Dawn
Dawn is Valerie and Alex’s mother on Casual.
Actress Frances Conroy is perhaps best known for playing Ruth Fisher on HBO’s Six Feet Under. An accomplished actress, Conroy has won one Golden Globe Award and three Screen Actors Guild awards. She began performing on the stage in the 1970s, with regular roles in Shakespeare plays like Othello. In the ’80s, she made her Broadway debut in Edward Albee’s The Lady From Dubuque and received one Tony nomination and four Drama Desk nominations for her work. For her work as Ruth Fisher in Six Feet Under, Conroy won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series in 2004. That same year, she was nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards.
Jamie Chung has been cast in a recurring role this season on Casual. The Once Upon a Time actress will play Tina, “who has the self-confidence of a pretty, debt-free, part-time freelance artist whose parents bought her a house,” according to Deadline.
